The second day of the EKOpolis fest in Nis, was marked-June 5th World Environment Day. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ivan Cvetanović, Executive Director EKOpolis network and associate professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nis, expressed concern about the state of the planet. "Floods, droughts and heat waves are more common. Major cities in the whole world must prepare for future climate disasters. There is a rapid growth of the population. Our relationship with the living environment is not in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Unfortunately, these warnings are coming from true experts from several years ago. This spring is also in our country with the passage of natural disasters. Floods and landslides jeopardized many areas. It was a enormous damage. Solidarity with the victims is the exam-stressed Professor Cvetanović.

Dragan Vidojković, artistic director of EKOpolis fest and president of Media Ecological Network of Serbia-EKOPOLIS, presented a program of environmental short films, music videos, which we daily through the media indicate the activity of individuals and social groups to protect the environment but also to the devastated areas, endangered plant and species. On the second evening at the Festival, we saw several short films from Milena Vidojković, from the TV series My EKOPOLIS, as part of the realization of planetary cycles "One day in the country" (One Day on Earth). In the German documentary series "The Power of the Elements - Earth" (Die Macht der Elemente. Erde), which was created in collaboration with the BBC, directed by Charles Colville, Ruth Omphaliusa describes the effect of the earth element on the history and present day humanity. "Graffiti shepherds in the valley Fi", a film by Italian director Paolo Cove is a moving testimony of the shepherds in the valley of Trentino, where are these people using the graffiti scratched into the rocks and left a trail of memories of his presence, transmitting a tradition that can be traced back to prehistoric times. With an impressive underwater footage on the shores of Egypt in the Nile Delta we see in the movie "Submerged arc in Egypt-myth becomes reality," German director Jan Tenhaven, leads us to search for sunken ancient port city of Herakleion. Puzzle about the disappearance of the city in 7th century could never be resolved. After years of searching on the basis of individual excavations, they created a map of the city, once a luxurious shopping center.
